Maindee Festival
The Maindee Festival attracts 12,000 people to
Maindee each July for a free street carnival and music event. The Maindee Festival Association is the community based voluntary
organisation that organises and runs the festival for the community.
The festival pays particular attention to children, young people and
BME Community: children receive free costume making workshops in school in the three months preceding the festival and get to show them off in the
street carnival; we dedicate one of our main tents for young people to organise and run by themselves and the music programme and catering reflects the
strong ethnic diversity.
Meetings are friendly and informal and we keep the discussion quite general. For those who want to go into detail
on issues such as music programming or marketing we have separate sub groups. We welcome everybody to come along and take part.
